Investigation report: abnormal injury and unconsciousness on site
Item
Detail
Prepared by
Security Department / Accident Investigation Team
Time of accident
16 April
Location
Outside the AZ3 perimeter fence, grass pile in the area
1. Summary
A HAAVK employee was found in a grass pile outside the AZ3 perimeter fence by a patrol, in a state of deep unconsciousness. The casualty has been handed over to a medical facility for emergency treatment.
2. Injury record
Examination
Finding
Consciousness
Deeply unconscious, no clear response to bright light or painful stimuli
Breathing
Weak but present
Surface wounds
Multiple irregular cuts on the torso and limbs; some bleeding has already clotted
Clothing
Torn and pulled in several places, covered in soil, grass and plant fragments
3. Scene examination
Item
Finding
Fall marks
The grass pile shows impact and rolling marks, with turf flattened irregularly; the casualty is presumed to have fallen from the slope above, with the grass pile breaking the fall
Animal traces
Animal hair and footprints found around the scene, initially judged to be canine
Human activity
Signs of human activity found in the surrounding area
Fence condition
The anti-climb fittings on top of the fence are partly damaged, with clothing fibres and blood spots
4. Preliminary cause analysis
Taking the physical evidence together, the preliminary finding is that the casualty was chased outside the fence and fell down the slope while fleeing, losing consciousness through impact or concussion. The canine hair and footprints suggest the chase may have involved dogs; the signs of human activity mean involvement by a person cannot be ruled out. A final determination requires further investigation.
5. Follow-up work
Retrieve surveillance records from around the time of the incident
Identify the species from the canine hair and footprints
Trace the origin of the human activity marks nearby
Interview the casualty once conscious
Personal work diary

13 April | Weather: overcast | Night shift
Tonight the perimeter round felt unbearably heavy, so quiet that even the insects had stopped.
Around one in the morning I reached the edge of the woodland by the blind spot on the north side. The moment my torch beam swept the bushes, I swear I saw a pair of eyes — and that was not the reflection of an ordinary wild animal pupil. I could tell it was watching me, even judging me. I stood rooted to the spot for a full minute, and only when a cold gust came through did I notice my back was soaked with sweat.
14 April | Weather: clear | Day shift
In daylight the perimeter is at least bearable.
In the afternoon, near the sluice by the river on the east side, I ran into a stranger. No idea how he got past the camera net. I shouted; he waved at me from a distance. He was holding a mirrorless camera on a gimbal, talking to the lens as he walked along the bank. I went over to question him as a matter of routine — out in this wilderness everyone looks suspicious. He said he is a short-video creator who got lost while filming, so I checked his account: 3707006600874797. Nothing suspicious turned up, but I still warned him to keep away from the area. With a different colleague on duty he might already have taken a bullet.
15 April | Weather: cloudy turning to showers | Night shift
It came back.
Halfway through tonight line check the strong feeling of being watched returned. I spun round, and less than fifty metres away, deep in the tree shadows, those red eyes were locked on my position again. This time I plucked up the courage, switched the tactical torch to its highest setting and pointed it straight at them.
The instant the beam hit, the eyes vanished.
And in that same instant I remembered the detail I had missed on day shift.
In his videos there is always a big grey-white dog — but when I saw him, that dog was not with him.
If he shows up around here again tomorrow, I have to grab him and get a straight answer.

21 May | Weather: overcast
Finally here.
Honestly, it is my first time in an old place with this much history, and it really is beautiful. Every street and alley carries a human touch; it looks good wherever you wander.
As usual I started surveying the target site, and it kept me busy the whole day until my back would not straighten. After clocking off I made sure to reward myself and hunted down local food all over town, eating until I was completely satisfied. Today was worth it.
23 May | Weather: cloudy
Three days of surveying done. The data, the model and the renovation plan are all sorted, packed, sealed and uploaded. I hesitated when setting the access password - I really cannot remember the string the system generates at random. Then it occurred to me that the name of the hotel is not bad.
By the way, I found an excellent coffee shop right opposite the hotel I am staying at, and I plan to recommend it to colleagues later. The archive is already on the main server. One last coffee before I leave this beautiful place.
[Final assessment report: Alternative Site B]
Recorded by: Survey team
Project no.: α brain-machine (code HS9837) research facility
1. Conclusion
After a three-day on-site survey, the final conclusion is that the site does not meet the department entry standard, and the plan should be scrapped immediately.
2. Reasons for rejection and abnormal core parameters
Foundation load capacity: 8 early-warning points of deep structural settlement were detected; the site cannot carry the deployment of high-density heavy experimental modules.
Main frame: hidden shear failure has occurred in the core load-bearing walls, key joints have shifted by up to 4 cm, and there is a risk of secondary collapse.
Underground space: the waterproofing of basement level 2 has failed completely, with long-standing water of unknown origin averaging about 2 m deep, making the lower level unusable.
Communications architecture: a strong electromagnetic interference barrier surrounds the building; the number of usable base stations for protocol restructuring and node penetration is 0.
Surroundings: the buffer zone around the facility is covered with 7 unregistered abandoned industrial shafts, making a gap-free security patrol net impossible.
Tactical routes: the original complex split-level layout is blocked by several collapses; only 5 parkour/manoeuvre routes meet the HAAVK fast-response and full-evacuation standard, far below the safety redundancy requirement.
3. Recommendation
Given these structural and environmental defects, any attempt to reinforce or renovate the facility would cause severe budget overrun and still fail to reach the absolute safety threshold.
Nuclear engineering basics - fill-in-the-blank paper
1. Internationally, uranium with a U-235 abundance of 20% or more is called highly enriched uranium (HEU); for strictly "weapons-grade" HEU the enrichment threshold is usually required to reach ____ty percent or above (enter the digit for the tens place).
2. In the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES), the highest hazard level - massive release of radioactive material causing a severe environmental disaster (as at Chernobyl) - is defined as level ____.
3. When a heavy radioactive nucleus undergoes one standard alpha (α) decay it emits a helium-4 nucleus, so the parent nucleus loses ____ from its total mass number.
4. In a fast breeder reactor, the natural uranium isotope that acts as a "fertile material", absorbing neutrons in quantity and eventually becoming fissile plutonium-239, is uranium-23____ (enter the last digit of that nuclide mass number).
5. The uranium-radium natural decay series (the uranium-238 chain), after a long sequence of radioactive decays, finally ends at the stable isotope lead-20____ (enter the last digit of that nuclide mass number).
6. To keep radioactive material from escaping, the core thermal cycle of a modern commercial pressurised water reactor (PWR) plant is normally designed as ____ fully physically separated fluid loops (the reactor coolant system and the conventional island steam system).
7. Of all naturally occurring nuclides, the only isotope that thermal neutrons can drive into a large-scale chain fission reaction is uranium-23____ (enter the last digit of that nuclide mass number).
8. When a reactor reaches a stable critical state, its effective multiplication factor (keff) is exactly equal to ____.
9. Tritium, the radioactive isotope of hydrogen, is often used together with deuterium as fuel for controlled nuclear fusion; the mass number of a tritium nucleus is ____.
